Protect Items Stored in Attic

There is likely going to be a large amount of dust and dirt as your old roof is taken off and a new one is installed. If you have any valuables in the attic, you need to make sure they are either taken out or covered until the roof replacement is complete. Be prepared to do a little light vacuuming when the roof is on, and the process is complete.

Clean Up Landscaping Before Roofers Arrive

If you have any trees that have branches hanging down by the roof, they will need to be trimmed back to make way for your new roof. If you have shrubs and other landscaping plants around the immediate perimeter of your house, you may want to consider covering them with tarps to avoid damage during the roofing process.

Remove Valuables from the Walls While Roof is Being Replaced

There will be a decent amount of banging and hammering while your new roof is being installed. If you have valuables and artwork hanging on the walls, it is best to take them down while the roof is getting installed. You may want to move fragile chandeliers as well until installation is complete.

Don’t Leave Vehicles in Driveway During Roofing Replacement

The driveway is no place for your vehicles while a new roof is getting installed. There is a great deal of debris that will be flying around your property during installation and your vehicle is better off somewhere else. You will possibly need to leave your home as well and with your vehicle out of the way, you can be sure that you will always be able to get out if needed.

Move Outdoor Furniture While Roofers Replace Roof

Outdoor furniture that isn’t covered by a patio covering will need to be removed or covered to avoid any damage as well. You don’t want falling debris to end up leaving you with outdoor furniture that has irreparable damage to it.

Can you live in a house while the Roof is Replaced?

Your pets and small children can get in the way and potentially injured when they are in the wrong place at the wrong time during a roof replacement. You don’t want them to accidentally step on a nail or other hazards often found in work zones.
